"Another Sonic amazing game"
This game follows the Sonic the Hedgehog game styles in some ways i.e in terms of stages and collecting rings.
The rankings at the end of stages are done by the nifty point scheme. However there are so many things that Shadow the Hedgehog does not follow from the Sonic games - such as when you get hit you only lose 10 rings,so you don't die as easily.
To gain lives, hit a check point with at least 100 rings or you can gain 10 rings more than you had before, if you have less than 100 rings, but the best stuff is still to come.
Here are the best things. You get thousands of guns to choose from which you pick up in the levels to destroy enemies or heroes more easily. There are also many vehicles to drive - motorcycles and warthogs are included plus air saucers.
There are 2-3 paths to choose from (good, evil or neutral), where you have to complete different tasks to do each path - each path leads to a different next level.
There is a load of secrets as well. You need all five keys in each level to get secret things like vehicles, weapons and shortcuts.
When you have all "A" ranks you also get expert mode where you run through all the levels which are all neutral. This will take a week or so to get through. There is also the library with 326 possible endings - each one earned by finishing the game in a different way.
One of the best things left to comment on is the sound track. Excellent music with bands such as Crush 40 and Power Man 5000. Some of the songs such as "All Hail Shadow", "I Am" and "Never Turn Back" will amaze you on their own.
If you have friends, there is a battle mode. In battle mode, two players can go head to head and battle each other with different kinds of Shadow. Some of them have guns on their arms. This mode uses the "Sonic the Adventure 2 Battle" soundtrack.
This game has lasted me a long time and I believe it is under-rated. Whilst the magazine Game Master said it was one of the biggest failures, I believe the game is excellent and would recommend anyone to go out and get this game. That is why i give it 10 out of 10.
